School Activities

At Nunnykirk we aim to build a pupils confidence - one way of doing this is by success or achievement in normal school subjects or in the range of activities which are organised in the evenings. All activities are open to day and boarding pupils. Depending on the time of year and the weather, the following activities are offered: Archery, Bird Watching, Camping, Canoeing, Chess, Cookery, Craft Club, Drama, Football, Fitness/Gym , Go-Karts, Harriers (Running), Magazine Club, Mechanics, Mountain Bike Club , Needlework, Photography, Rock School, Scouts, Swimming, Table Tennis, Tennis, Trampoline, Woodwork.

Outside Interest

Pupils also take part in visits to the theatre, cinema and museums. Every year there is an Activity Week. When new pupils arrive at Nunnykirk they are put into a House and throughout the year there are Inter-House competitions culminating in the last week of the Summer Term for athletics and our own Endurance Race in which the whole school takes part.

Every other year pupils have the opportunity to take part in an activity trip abroad. In addition, the school participates in a great many extra curricular sporting activities, We enter tournaments in football, swimming,
cross country, and regularly play football matches against other schools. This gives pupils the opportunity to participate in regular competitive activity and increase their social skills. Staff and pupils present a Christmas Production every year.

Community Links

We take every advantage possible of being situated in beautiful countryside. Practical lessons, hobbies and leisure activities are on our doorstep. However, we do realise that our pupils need other stimuli and our mini-buses transport pupils to the local towns - a 15 minute drive to take part in Scouts, Harriers, Cadets, Canoeing and other activities where they can join in with young people of their own age.
